Philosophy

What we’re for, and how we build.

The beliefs and principles behind Pairent — what we're for, and how we build.

What we believe

Two things can be true.

As parents, we are doing our best — and we wish we were doing better. Both are true at the same time. Learning to hold them together, without letting either one win, is most of the work.

Children are the future — but parenting is how that future gets shaped.

Better support for parents means happier, healthier kids. And enough happier, healthier kids means a better world. We don’t say that to sound grand. It’s just the honest size of the job most of us took on without much preparation.

Nobody handed us a recipe.

None of us were really trained for this. We’re mostly making it up as we go, hoping we get the big things right. A little steady, non-judgmental support can change everything.

The problem was never a lack of advice.

There are wonderful parenting books. The trouble is that none of what you underlined is ever in your head during an unexpected meltdown, when you actually need it. Closing that one gap — between what we know and what we manage to do in the moment — is the whole goal.

We don’t want to tell you how to parent.

You bring your values; we help you live them a little more consistently. No gurus. No one true way. The right approach is the one that fits your family, and that’s yours to choose.

We know this isn’t for everyone.

The idea of recording family moments can feel strange — even uncomfortable. We understand that completely; some of the people we love most would never use it. A lot of that unease is earned: the tech industry spent years teaching people that “free” and “convenient” come with a hidden cost. We don’t want to just avoid doing harm. We want to build something that actively gives back more than it takes — and to earn the trust that makes that believable. If that’s not for you, no hard feelings.

How we build

Your family’s data is yours.

We don’t sell it, and we never will — not now, and not later in some quiet change to the fine print. We don’t use it to train anyone else’s models. The original recordings are deleted automatically within 48 hours of being processed. You choose what’s kept, and you can delete any of it — or all of it — at any time.

You are not the product.

That’s the whole point. No ads. No profile of you built to sell you things. No feed engineered to keep you scrolling. Technology this close to your family should be working for you, not on you.

Pairent isn’t free — on purpose.

When something is free, you usually end up paying in ways you can’t see. (Even free weather apps have been caught, in well-documented cases, quietly selling location data.) We’d rather charge a fair price, honestly and up front, and put it toward the most capable tools we can find — the same ones we want looking after our own families. Good help is worth paying for; your attention and your data shouldn’t be the currency.

Built by a parent, for parents.
